THE CHALLENGE
The central office at the Samaritans is driving a digital transformation for the entire organisation. They have recognized that technology can boost collaboration and communication but they are not sure what does collaboration mean for the Samaritans. Where to focus their effort? How to prioritize investment in technology?
MY APPROACH
The challenge was very broad we needed to bring clarity to the discussion. So I have proposed a to bring cross functional team together for a workshop on defining collaboration in the context of the Samaritans.
AFFINITY MAPPING
A session of How Might We and Affinity Mapping outlined a number of high-level opportunities for further exploration. Followed by a vote for the opportunities the team feels worth taking forward.

FACILITATE AN IDEATION SESSION
A round of the Crazy 8’s brainstorming helped the team explore how technology can be used to explore the opportunities identified by the HMWs. Sketching 8 ideas in 8 minutes helps the team push beyond their first idea and search for innovative solutions.

THE OUTCOMES
The workshop generated more than 80 ideas of how to apply technology to boost collaboration across the organisation. The team also thought that it was a really good, positive and creative way to engage each participant, giving them the opportunity to put their ideas forward.
On the next step the Samaritans will implement the proposal, which are considered easy wins and will develop a prototype of a MVP of a collaboration technology to test with volunteers.
